µ-Sen GmbH now belongs as Bachmann Monitoring GmbH to th e Bachmann group.The company’s main area of business is vibration analysis. This technology is used for the condition monitoring of the drive-train of wind turbine systems.
The outstanding Sensorik "know-how" of the company forms the basis of the early warning system for problems within the main components of the drive-train. The early problem detection of the wind turbine system is also complemented with the integration of further diagnostic functions, for example, the monitoring of rotor blades and structural elements.
With today's increasingly long delivery periods for spare parts the users of µ-Sen Systems are given the time required to negotiate a timely and the cost effective procurement of replacement components.
The range of services available from Bachmann Monitoring GmbH, who were founded in 1998, is rounded off with a variety of services. Bachmann Monitoring carry out on-site training and induction courses for the customer’s personnel as well as being able to provide independent vibration assessments.
Areas of Business
The principle of vibration diagnosis for early problem detection can be used on all moving machinery and equipment as well as quality control for industrial processes. The main area of business of Bachmann Monitoring is the marketing and supervision of CM systems for wind turbines. As an additional service, Bachmann Monitoring also offer vibration assessments.
Further areas of business include the monitoring of combined heat and power units (CHP), thermal power units, hydro-electric installations as well as rail transport which are all growing or expanding markets. The CM service has a central position within the company carrying out the remote monitoring via the internet. This makes it is possible to monitor any number of machines and/or equipment in almost any location.

Applications
µ-Sen uses Condition Monitoring Systems for early fault detection for the main components (main-bearing, gearbox, generator) of wind turbine drive-trains
The CM-Systems "Ω-Guard®" and "VIBGUARD®" have been installed in more than 1200 wind turbines since 2001 (47 different types of wind turbine from 18 manufacturers). The wind turbines being monitored have power outputs ranging from 250 kW to 5MW.
The initial evaluations of the measured values, their storage as well as the data transfer, is carried out automatically by the CM System. The configuration of the diagnostic system is implemented through the web front-end "WebLog" either on site or at a remote monitoring position. The WebLog also serves as a communications interface for the diagnostic system and enables easy access to the condition information from any geographical location. The user is alerted of possible problems via a status window as well as via e-mail or SMS. A simultaneous trend analysis of the individual machine components and equipment is made available using the integrated database.
The systems conform to standards set by ATZ (Allianz Zentrum für Technik GmbH) as well as being certified by Germanischer Lloyd WindEnergie GmbH
In August 2008 the monitoring department within Bachmann Monitoring received certification from Germanischer Lloyd WindEnergie GmbH
